Betty Ellen Reed

Betty Ellen Loberg Reed, 86, died September 2nd in Cheyenne, WY. She was born July 19th, 1927 in Minneapolis, MN to John and Alma (Larson) Loberg. She attended Minneapolis schools and graduated in 1945. In the summer of 1948, she worked at the General Store in Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park where she met Clarence Orville (Babe) Reed. They married on November 9, 1948. She worked at the University of Wyoming Bookstore to help Babe finish his college degree. After college they moved to Riverton where Betty supported Babe in his teaching of high school vocational agriculture for one year.  In 1952 they purchased a farm on Willwood, south of Powell, where they farmed until retirement.
Betty was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. She was part of the Willwood Women’s Club, American Legion Auxiliary, United Methodist Women, and PEO. She enjoyed hosting bridge club. She showed kindness to the neighbors on the Willwood by sharing coffee, food, garden produce and raspberries. Her labor of love to her grandchildren included sewing quiet books when they were tiny, then little outfits, and knitting sweaters and vests. Her Norwegian heritage was the inspiration for many delicious baked goods and desserts which she generously shared.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John and Robert from Minneapolis, husband Babe, and a grandson. She is survived by her son Tom (Donna) Reed of Powell and their children Trent Reed and Crystal of Powell, Darcie Reed and Brian of Missoula MT; son Charlie (Donna) Reed of Cheyenne and their children Evie (Nathan) Brennan of Cheyenne, Katrina Reed of Seattle, WA, Titus Reed of San Diego, CA and fiancé Emily, Larissa Reed of Salina, KS; daughter Jo Ellen Cline of Cheyenne and her children Crystal Cline of Cheyenne, Jenny Cline of Powell; one great-grand child Selah Brennan and many nieces and nephews.
 
Services will be at 11:00 am Saturday September 7th at the First United Methodist Church in Powell with lunch to follow. Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell at 2:00 pm.
 
Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, American Legion, or memorial of your choice.
