Bonita ‘Bonnie’ Faye Cooley Jansson

Bonita “Bonnie†Faye Cooley Jansson, a longtime Powell resident, died Nov. 12, 2011 at her home in Powell. She was 71.
Bonnie was born June 21, 1940, in Powell, to Alfred Robert Cooley and Effie Jurgensen Cooley. She attended Powell schools and then married Karl Edward Jansson. They lived in Oklahoma and Alaska before settling in Powell.
They owned and operated several businesses through the years, including B&K Salvage, Husky Bulk Plant and gas station, several second-hand stores, Ceramic Connection and Mobile Home Transport.
After Karl passed away, Bonnie was a waitress at the Hamilton House in Powell for several years. She loved seeing all her coffee drinking “buddies.â€
In her younger years, she loved fishing at Bartlett Lane and enjoyed bowling and playing darts. She never missed a card game.
She could be seen at local craft fairs with her blankets, jewelry and paintings. She worked year-round preparing for the Park County Fair, where she displayed her crafts. She was very proud of her many blue ribbons.
Bonnie loved to have dinners on the third floor of Rocky Mountain Manor, where she lived. She did most of the cooking for these events and truly loved her friends at the manor. She also was a huge Washington Redskins fan.
Bonnie was instrumental in starting the Christmas Grannies. They have sent crafts as far as Australia. She was proud to have sent her handmade Christmas ornaments to be displayed on the White House Tree in 2010.
Survivors include son Tom Jansson and his wife Rita of Cowley, daughter Klondy Jansson of Powell, stepchildren Karl (Judy) Kennet of Missouri, Ronald (Joan) Jansson of Oregon, Debbie (Mike) Elliot of Florida and Kathi Morgan of Denver; a brother, Raymond (Alice) Cooley of Powell; sisters-in-law Virginia Cooley, Melba Sweet and Ruth Cooley, all of Powell; two granddaughters, Jordan Jansson and Katrina Miller of Powell; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Karl, brothers Dick Sweet, Robert Cooley and Donald Cooley, and her sister Phyllis Smith.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16 at First Southern Baptist Church in Powell.
