On Oct. 19, 2024, Clifford Graham Alexander was called home to rejoin his parents, grandparents, brother, and nephew. Cliff was born on Nov. 2, 1949, in Greybull, Wyoming to Donald Alfred Alexander and Mickie Elanor James. Cliff was the first of 5 children. Cliff grew up in Burlington, Wy with his grandparents Clifford and Alice Aagard. During his early years he was given the nickname “Butch” after getting his first haircut. Cliff had too many hobbies to list, but his favorites were hunting, fishing, and rockhounding.
Cliff graduated from Burlington High School in 1968. He was a member of the track, basketball, football teams, and Letterman’s Club all four years of high school. Cliff’s involvement didn’t end with sports. He served as Student Council President for two years, Sports Editor for the school newspaper, attended journalism conventions, music festivals, and was presented with the Best Salesman award for their freshman magazine.
Cliff’s multiple talents went on to help him become successful in many fields. After faithfully serving a mission in Australia for The LDS Church, he went on to work various jobs around the globe. Some of the jobs worked abroad included diamond drudging in Sierra Leone, Africa and cattle ranching in Belize, South America. He attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University, earning a bachelor's degree and master’s degree. On May 12, 1981 he married Karen Kay Wall in the Manti, UT Temple. Together they had 3 children and were married 11 years. Cliff was a Chief of Police in both Unalakleet and Sand Point, Alaska, also volunteering as a firefighter and EMT. After returning to Wyoming with his family, Cliff worked as the last Town Marshall of Meeteetse.
In 1992, Cliff moved back to his boyhood home in Burlington, Wy with his 3 children. Cliff would reside in Burlington until his passing. Cliff worked as a Real Estate Broker for 30 years, operating primarily out of the Big Horn Basin. At the time of his passing, he was the owner of Running Horse Realty in Greybull, Wy. He served on many committees and boards of directors throughout his life. Some of these include the TCT West Board of Directors (Chairman), Big Horn County Fire District #4 (Chairman), Park County Board of Realtors (President), and Northwest District Vice President of the Wyoming Association of Realtors. Cliff was always an active, prominent member of the area and had a deep devotion to improving and bettering the community for all those around him. He was also a strong member of the LDS Church his entire life.
Cliff would say that his greatest accomplishments in life were his children and grandchildren. He was always diligent in being present at sporting events, recitals, and club events. He was very supportive in helping both his sons become Eagle Scouts. After his children were grown, Cliff continued his dedication to his children/grandchildren by spending countless hours driving all around the country to be present and supportive to them.
Cliff is survived by his sons: Joshua Alexander (Krystal Lund) of Idaho Falls, ID; Ethan Alexander (Denise) of Escalante, UT; his daughter Ashlee Alexander of Sheridan, WY; brothers: James Alexander of Basin Wyoming; George Alexander(Cherri Thomas) of Longmont, CO; his sister Patty Alexander of Longmont, CO; 12 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
