Donald E. Buchanan, of Powell, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 in his home. He was 87.
He was born in Okanogan, Wash. on Jan. 21, 1925 to William and Ruth (Estele) Buchanan.
Donald was married to Pauline (Crocker) Buchanan and served in the Navy. Later, he worked as an engineer at the Boeing Airplane Company for 35 years. He was a Gideon for many years. Don belonged to the National Rifle Association and as an avid hunter, he went to Africa and came home with six or eight trophies. He also loved to fish. He loved teaching the older men’s Sunday school class at Southern Baptist Church.
Donald is survived by his wife, Polly; children Mike Buchanan of Hawaii, Rick Buchanan and Tina Buchanan, both of California; stepchildren Jim Gunderson of Houston, Texas, Sandy Marinelli and Jane Whittle, both of Washington and Darlene Lamb of Powell; brother-in-law Willie Crocker; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; sister Jean Young; and stepson Al Gunderson.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. at First Southern Baptist Church, 700 East Madison St., Powell, WY 82435.
