Doris Hubbell Ross

“Godspeed, call when you get there,” was a phrase that Doris Hubbell Ross used when one of her children or grandchildren were going on a journey. On May 28th, 2017 Doris took her final journey. With her three children holding her, Jesus came and took Doris to heaven.

She was born on October 8th, 1922 in Cowley, WY, the sixth of eight children born to Guy and Carrie Hubbell.  Doris graduated from Cowley High School in 1940. On December 3, 1943, Doris married William (Bill) Ross in Billings, MT.

Doris went to school to become a LPN and loved caring for patients at Fremont Clinic in Riverton and St. John’s Lutheran Ministries in Billings, MT. Doris and her family moved around the country and Canada because of her husband’s job. In 1990 Bill and Doris retired and moved to Powell, WY.

Doris was an amazing woman, known to her family as the caregiver.  She had a sacrificial love for her family and would do anything for them.  Camping with her family and cooking meals for them were her favorite things to do.

Doris was a great woman of faith and a prayer warrior.  She taught her family how to love unconditionally and how to grow older with grace and dignity.  Her family is forever grateful that she was the matriarch, moral compass, spiritual leader and center of the family universe, touching all with her love.  Godspeed Doris on this new and wonderful journey with Christ.

Doris is survived by her three wonderful children Shirley Norris of Powell, Rodney of Greybull, and Debra of Powell, who gave her sacrificial loving care during her illness. Her three grandsons Robert (Karen), Jeff, Jon (Elizabeth) and her granddaughter Kasandra (Mike), six great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, her sister Clorous Franks of Powell, sister-in-law Audrey Hubbell of Powell, and sister-in-law Lee Hubbell of Denver, CO.

She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband Bill, much loved daughter-in-law Carol, her parents, brothers Grant, Max, Jack, and Guy, and sisters Marvel Lookhart, and Helen Rank.

The family request memorials be made to Spirit Mountain Hospice.
