Dorothy Johnson

Dorothy Louise Johnson, 71, died in her home in Powell on March 25, 2010 with her beloved husband, Walter, holding her hand. Present also were friends from church who helped her pass from this world to the next with complete peace.
Dorothy was born on September 5, 1938 to Floyd and Faye Card in Lovell, WY. She and her brothers, George and John, attended Lovell schools.
Dorothy moved to Powell in 1959 with her husband, Robert Thormahlen, and soon began working at the radio station where she became known as "Your Neighbor Lady". Her pioneering spirit was demonstrated through that talk show that lasted most of the 1960's. Many people enjoyed her neighborly and witty personality. In 1962 their daughter, Rhonda, who cherished her dearly, was born.
Wherever Dorothy worked in Powell, from bookkeeper to bartender, she made many wonderful friends. Most recently she worked at Aldrich Lumber Company until she absolutely could work no more. She loved the people she worked with like family and enjoyed her work so much. Most would say how much they loved how she spoke from her heart with honesty, integrity and humor.
Dorothy married the ultimate love of her life, Walter Johnson, on February 26, 1983. They devoted themselves to each other and Walter has taken wonderful and loyal care of her for the past several years.
Dorothy loved telling funny stories (often with an accent), being creative and spending time with her friends and family. Many people found her to be the most caring, loving and giving person they ever met (not to mention-- brilliant).
Dorothy's parents preceded her in death.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Walter Johnson; daughter, Rhonda Duncombe (Pete) of Las Vegas, NV; step-daughter, Roxanna of WA; step-sons, Lonney Johnson ( Aletha) of Powell and Louis Johnson (Jodi) of Hesperia, CA; brothers, George Card (Ruth) of Missoula, MT, John Card (Alice) of St. Mary's, WV; ex-husband, Robert Thormahlen of Keenesburg, CO; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 7 nieces and several grand-nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church (308 Mountain View St, Powell, WY 82435 ) on April 17, 2010 at 2pm.
