Evelyn Marie Barrett

Evelyn Marie Fisher Barrett died at the North Big Horn Care Center in Lovell, WY on December 20, 2016. She was 90 years old. Evelyn was 90 years old. Evelyn Marie Fisher was born on March 14, 1926, in Nibbe, Montana to Frank and Lola Fisher. was born the third of four children. She grew up on the family ranch and graduated from Worden High School. She met and married Wilsey Barrett who was working on ranches in the area. They were married on November 30, 1946. They worked on various ranches in Montana and Wyoming. To this union were born two sons, James Albert and Frank Ronald. They moved to Powell, Wy. Evelyn worked in several local restaurants and cleaned homes. Evelyn was an excellent homemaker and cook. When they were on the LU Ranch, she baked bread and homemade pies everyday for the ranch hands and her family. She prepared three big meals each day for everyone on the ranch. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and making big family dinners. Everything was always homemade. She was famous in her family for her homemade candies and would literally make gallons of it to share. Evelyn made quilts for all of her grandchildren and loved to crochet. She taught her grandchildren to play pinochle and many fun times were spent playing after a big Sunday dinner. Wherever her grandchildren were participating in activities as well as nieces and nephews, she was there to cheer them on. Evelyn raised a beautiful garden and flowers. She liked to share the produce with the neighbors and loved exhibiting her flowers at the county fair. Evelyn loved fishing—whether in a boat or from the bank. It wasn't very often that anyone caught more fish than she did. She loved anything that had to do with her family for it was her greatest pride and joy. She was a member of the New Life Church in Powell. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Virginia Vrana, two brothers, Stan Fisher and Bill Fisher and her husband, Wilsey Barrett. She is survived by her two sons, Jim (Linda) Barrett of Ralston and Frank (Gaye) Barrett of Powell. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Jody Yetter of Casper, Jacque Harvey of Billings, Rocky (Tiffany) Barrett of Las Vegas, Brady ( Paige) Barrett of Auburn, WY, Evee (Landon) Greer of Cody, and Teecee Barrett of Powell. She is also the proud grandmother of 16 great-grandchildren and one great- great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at 10 am at Thompson Funeral Home in Powell, WY. Internment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery following the service.
