Everett A. Brakke died Tuesday, June 18, 2013, in Powell. He was 90.
Everett was born in Billings, Mont., Aug. 19, 1922, to Tilmer and Blanche (Langstaff) Brakke. He attended schools in Billings and graduated from Billings Senior High. After graduation Everett entered the Civilian Conservation Corps and then worked in an electric motor repair shop until World War II started. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps where he served as an airplane mechanic and link trainer instructor from 1942 until 1946.
Everett and Betty Jean Martin were married Sept. 13, 1943. They resided in Billings until 1953 at which time they moved to Powell. Everett was employed by Heasler Plumbing until 1960. He then worked for the Powell School District doing mechanical maintenance in all the school buildings until he retired in 1984.
He was a member of the Powell Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years and belonged to the American Legion in Powell.
Everett was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, son Gary, brothers Charles, Leonard and Robert and sister, Doris "Pat" Knebel.
He is survived by sons Ray (Kathleen) Brakke of Denver; Dan (Darlis) Brakke of Kansas City, Mo.; Steve (Jolene) Brakke of Powell; daughter Cheryl (Bill) Watson of Billings; brother Vernon of Layton, Utah; sister Betty of DeLaven, Wisc.; and grandchildren Michael, Christine, Erik, Ryan, Chelsea and Kevin.
Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date.
