Gene Stewart Allen
Gene Stewart Allen, of Powell, died Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Powell Valley Hospital. He was 78.
Gene was born April 26, 1932, in Watson, Mo., to Samuel Stewart Allen and Dorothy Christiana Robinette. He traveled extensively both as an over the road trucker and for pleasure.
He married Marlene (Ehrichs) Allen on Dec. 25, 1975. The Allens did campground hosting in their retirement years, and Gene always enjoyed meeting and greeting everyone. He enjoyed a good joke, a good hand of cards, hearing about other's adventures, and telling about his own.
He could often be found sitting out on his porch on a nice summer day having a cup of coffee just waiting for someone to stop and say hello. "Pop" was ready to meet the Lord and died peacefully.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dena, and two daughters, Carlene and Joy.
He is survived by his wife Marlene; sons Scott and family of Powell, Jeff and family of Hungry Horse, Mont., Alex of Pocahontas, Iowa; daughter Robin and family of Readlyn, Iowa; step-children: Sandy, Debbie, Dave and Scott; brother-in-law Roland "Bud" Hamrick of Michigan; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
No services are planned, however, the family appreciates your prayers.
