Gerald Merritt Linsdau, known affectionately as Jerry, passed away on July 20, 2024, at the age of 86 in Cody, Wyoming at Spirit Mountain Hospice surrounded by family. Born on December 12, 1937, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Jerry led a life marked by devotion to his faith, family, and country.
Jerry served honorably in the Navy from September 1959 to September 1964. His military service was a significant chapter in his life, reflecting his dedication and patriotism. After his service, he embarked on a diverse career path that included roles at Gary’s TV Repair, Dubois Electric, Smith’s Logging, United States Forest Service, and Wyoming Game and Fish. While retired, he was a delivery driver for Napa Auto Parts.
As a man of deep faith, Jerry was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Powell, Wyoming. His religious commitment was intertwined with his daily life, guiding his actions and interactions.
Jerry's educational journey included schooling in Wisconsin and Florida during his early years, followed by high school in Wyoming and Montana. He furthered his education by taking a few college classes in Casper, Wyoming, which broadened his skills and knowledge.
Throughout his life, Jerry pursued hobbies that connected him with nature and his community. He was an avid fisherman, hiker, and traveler, but he loved golf most of all. Golfing was more than a pastime; it was a passion that brought him immense joy and relaxation.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Linda Linsdau, his brothers Jim and Tim Linsdau and their families, his children: Jennifer Slagle, Deeda & Mark Bartek, Roy & Chris Slagle, and Leah & Jeff Cooley, his grandchildren: Jessica Bartek, Heather Bartek, Mathew Slagle, Kami & Josh Whitlock and Kadi Cooley, and his great grandchildren: Timothy and Kylie Bartek. He was preceded in death by his father: Merritt Gerald Linsdau, mother: Dorothy Linsdau, brother: Tom Linsdau and sister-in-law: Diane Linsdau.
Jerry’s memorial services will be Monday July 29, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Immanual Lutheran Church.
Jerry's life was a testament to his values of hard work, honesty, trustworthiness, and loyalty. He will be remembered as a loving, husband, family man and friend.
