Mrs. Gladys Creda Schwab of Powell, WY. passed away in her home on December 21, 2024. Gladys was born on May 4 th , 1951 in Powell, WY. to Leo and Ruth Branstetter. Gladys grew up in Powell and attended Powell schools, graduating from Powell High School in 1969. After graduation she attended Northwest College in Powell, where she earned an associates degree
.Gladys married the love of her life, Arnie Schwab, on the 25 th of May in 1973. Gladys became the step-mother to four boys. Gladys was a loving wife to Arnie and step-mother to Barry, Mike, Brian, and Stuart. She spent fifty-one years raising a family.
Gladys worked many years for the City of Powell, starting in the parks department and ending her career as an electrical meter technician and meter reader. Gladys enjoyed working outside everyday and interacting with the residents of Powell.Gladys loved spending weekends camping, boating, and spending time with her family. When she wasn’t off in the hills you could find her playing fastpitch softball, where her skills became legendary. She loved making her boys keep up with her on dirt bikes, and she had a passion for bowling. Gladys was an active member in her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, and the Eagles Club, where she made lifelong friends. In retirement Gladys spent a lot of time volunteering at Powell Hospital.
Gladys is survived by husband Arnold Schwab, brother Donald (Diane) Branstetter of Powell, sons Barry Schwab of Powell , Stuart Schwab (Raquel) of Billings, MT.Grandsons Michael (Mandi) Schwab of Las Vegas NV, Stephen (Dana) Schwab of Spring Creek NV, Joey (Michelle) Schwab of Bismark ,ND, Jimmy (Taylor) Schwab of Wibaux, MT, Bradley Schwab of Powell, Andy Schwab of Billings, MT, and Cade Schwab of Billings Mt. Granddaughters Jessica (Alberto) Medina of Lasvegas, NV, Ashley (Travis) Barchenger of Laurel MT, Jacquelyn (Travis) Lequeux of Beach, MT, and Diedra Crawford of Powell, WY. Gladys also has 18 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Ruth Branstetter, two sons, Michael and Brian, her brother Gary Branstetter, and sisters Mary Hatch and Carol Mathews.
Services will be at New Life Church at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024 with a viewing before the service from 9:00 until 9:45.
