Glendon Maynard Julius Kriese, 90, of Powell, died on September 23, 2013 at Powell Valley Healthcare.
Glendon was born on July 9, 1923, in Britton, South Dakota to Herman and Jeannette (Nobles) Kriese.
Glendon grew up in South Dakota and North Dakota, attending schools in Lake City, South Dakota and Ambrose, North Dakota.  He attended college at Valley City State University in the Navy ROTC program from 1944-45. He attended Minot State College and received his bachelor’s degree in 1948.  In 1956, he received his master’s degree in education from the University of Northern Colorado.
Glendon joined the United States Navy and served as a radioman in World War II (1943-1946) on the USS Harold C. Thomas and in the Korean War (1951-1952) on the USS Titania and USS Karen.   During the time between World War II and the Korean War, he was a member of the US Navy Reserve.  In 2011, he was honored to be a member of the final Wyoming Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.
In 1949, Glendon married Phyllis Feist.  They had two children, Joan and Diane.  They divorced in 1983.
Glendon’s career in education provided the opportunity to teach in many communities including Coteau, Ambrose, and Minot, North Dakota; Balboa, Panama; Fallbrook, California; and Fort Laramie, Wyoming.  
Glendon was a member of the American Legion, Elks, and Moose.  He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Minot, North Dakota.
He is survived by his daughters, Joan Kriese of Sheridan and Diane (Jim) DeLozier of Powell; former wife, Phyllis Kriese of Powell; sister, Phyllis Carlson of Jamestown, North Dakota; niece Bonnie Symon of Lafayette, California; and nephew Brian (Bonnie) Carlson of Jamestown, North Dakota.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Majel Kriese; parents Herman and Jeannette Kriese; and brother-in-law, Arden Carlson.
A celebration of life will take place on Friday, September 27 at 2:30 p.m. at the Rocky Mountain Manor.
