Hilliard Jackson Hargis

Hilliard Jackson “Jack” Hargis passed away peacefully on June 8th 2010. Jack died the way he lived – with courage, strength, humor, and undying love for his family.

After surviving a childhood in depression era Alabama, Jack first served in the Army during the Korean War, then worked his way through college, graduating from Auburn University with honors and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.

He then moved to Texas where he met and married Marie McGinn with whom he had five beautiful children and a lifetime of happy memories. After a successful career as a pharmacist, Jack established an investment firm and moved to Montana, and later, Wyoming. It was in the Northwest that Jack finally had the time to indulge in activities he enjoyed, skiing, hiking, shooting, and taking his beloved dogs “Bonnie” and “Clyde” for long rides in the car.

Jack was predeceased by his son John Michael and his wife Marie McGinn Hargis. He is survived by his sister Judy Rogers, his children Jan Barker, Frank Hargis, Katie Pressgrove, and Laura Hargis, and his grandchildren Brad, Nick, Ali, Cameron, Amber, Jake, and Cate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Powell Valley Hospice, 777 Avenue A., Powell, WY 82435.
