Ivalee McAlmond

Ivalee Fulton McAlmond passed away February 21, 2025 surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 30, 1949 in Powell, Wyoming to Vernon (Chris) and Maxine Fulton. She was raised on Heart Mountain with one brother and three sisters and many double cousins, which she considered her siblings as well. She always said she had the best childhood, considered herself rich, and often shared great memories growing up in the country. When she was in the 8th grade, her family moved out of the barrack and to everyone’s delight, moved into a house which had indoor plumbing. 

She attended Powell High where she met Scott McAlmond and they were married February 7, 1966. Shortly after, they set off to build a life together and ended up in Colorado where they lived many years. Ivalee and Scott welcomed three children, Jill, Justin and Jeremy. Ivalee was a stay at home mom before working as a bus driver for Aurora Public Schools Transportation and moving her way up the ladder to becoming fleet manager. She lived a life of dedication, strong work ethics, and love for her family. 

In 2004 she retired, and in 2006 Scott and Ivalee moved back home to Wyoming. She took great pleasure in supporting her grandkids in every sport they were involved in which took her all over the state of Wyoming and many other states. When asked if she wanted to go, she said her bag is always packed and she always went! She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, daughter, and sister who touched the lives of so many people. Her love for her family was apparent in every decision she made. Nothing made her happier than seeing one of her grandkids walk through the door. She embodied the very best qualities including unconditional love, strength, and her unending generosity that could be seen in the care of her family. Ivalee was never content sitting. If she wasn’t on the road, she was digging river beds, planting wild flowers, or tending to her beautiful yard which she took great pride in.

Ivalee is survived by her husband, Scott of 59 years; daughter, Jill Schmidt (Ryan); son, Justin; grandchildren Cameron, Morgan, Jayvin, and Rayven, her mother Maxine Fulton, her brother Phil (Sam) Fulton; her sister Cindy (Ritchie) Shumway; Christie (Jay) Maggard; her sister Julie (Rick) Norberg, family, and friends who will forever be grateful to have been loved by her. 

Ivalee is preceded in death by her son Jeremy, and father Vernon Fulton. 

We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Dr.Collins, her nursing staff at oncology, and Whitney, Rachel, and Patti at the infusion clinic. They took such care of Ivalee with such compassion and we are forever grateful.

Services will be March 7, at 10:00 at Faith Community Church, Powell, WY. Please join us for a celebration of life and luncheon following at the Heart Mountain Clubhouse.
