John H. Curnow of Powell died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Billings, MT. He was 73. John was born March 20, 1939 in Grass Valley, California to Herbert and Mildred (Seabury) Curnow. He attended school in Grass Valley, California and on June 13, 1980 he married Judith in Reno, Nevada.
John served proudly in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam and was a Boilerman. Upon returning home, he continued in the profession he loved, as a diesel mechanic. He lived and worked in Grass Valley, California for the majority of his life and when he retired he came to live in Powell, Wyoming. But he couldn’t sit down long enough to retire, so he continued working as a mechanic in Powell.
His true passion was his family. He was a man of few words but when he did speak, everyone listened. He enjoyed four-wheeling, fishing, hunting, gardening, and just tinkering around. He belonged to the Methodist Church in Powell. He was also a member of the American Legion and Heart Mountain Rod and Gun Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
John is survived by his wife Judi, son Rob (Katy) of Grass Valley, CA; daughter Brook of Clark, brothers Bill (Yvonne), Bob Curnow of Grass Valley, CA; sister Joyce Hartung of Grass Valley, CA.
Dad we will always miss and love you but we know that you will always be with us.
