Lloyd William Killam of 777 Avenue H, Powell, Wyoming passed away on December 4, 2011.  Lloyd was born in Western Mound Township, Hettick Illinois on August 8, 1919 to the late William Roy and Alice Dugger Killam.  When Lloyd was a year old, the Killam family moved to Garland and where Lloyds father owned and operated Killam's Garage for 30 years,
Lloyd graduated from Powell High school on May 13, 1937.  He then went to work for the Civilian Conservation Corps, driving trucks carrying rocks and sand up the twisting mountain roads to Yellowstone National Park to build better roads.
In November 1940, Lloyd joined the Army Air Corps, a career with the United States Government that would span 45 years.  He was stationed in North Africa and Italy from 1943 to 1945.  He rose to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, retiring from active military duty in 1964.  Lloyd worked for the next 20 years as a Budget Officer for the United States Air Force.
After retiring, and the death of his wife Louise, Lloyd moved back to his beloved Powell, most recently living in the Powell Valley Care Center.
In addition to his parents, Lloyd was predeceased by his brothers Frank A. Killam and Henry I. Killam
Lloyd is survived by his son Christian Killam, grandson Timothy Killam, his wife Nikea Killam, and great grandsons Brent Killam and Anthony Killam, all of Westerly, Rhode Island.. He is also survived by his sister Ruthe Michaelsen and nephew Michael of Winnemucca, Nevada.
The Killam Family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Powell Valley Health Care for the excellent care that they gave Lloyd over the past three years.
A memorial service, with full military honors will be held in Powell in the spring of 2012.
