Loren Edwin Burch died Sunday, January 8, 2012 at his home north of Powell per his instructions surrounded by his family. He was 79.
He was born March 15, 1932 at home on the family homestead north of Powell to Harlen V and Minnie Grace (O’Banion) Burch. He graduated from Powell High School in 1950. Loren and Margaret Joan Schmitt were married February 13, 1951 in Billings, Mt. and enjoyed almost 61 years together. Loren and Joan farmed north of Powell and raised their three daughters. They later sold Hastings Irrigation Pipe. Loren also worked for E.H. Walruths and Sons and continued when it became Baker Bean. For Big Horn Co-op Loren drove a gas tanker delivering fuel to the Co-op stores traveling from Laurel, Mt. to Casper, WY and points in between. Loren obtained a Level I Water Systems Operator license and worked for Northend Water Users, repairing breaks, installing and replacing water meters, after semi-retiring Loren and Joan delivered the Billings Gazette.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, three daughters and two son in-laws, Nora (Roger) Brazelton, Debbie Sue Burch both of Powell and Carol (Gary) Bunn of Clark, Wyoming; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harlen and Grace Burch and two brothers, Erwin and Dennis Burch.
Cremation has taken place and there will be graveside services at Crownhill Cemetery January 12th at 10 a.m. with life- time friend Kenneth Baker officiating. After the service the family is welcoming family and friends into Loren and Joan’s home for refreshments and to share memories and stories.
