Mark Cressler passed away at age 43 doing one of his favorite things, riding in his pickup! He was born in Casper, Wyoming, and soon after adopted by John and Irene Tate of Manderson, Wyoming.
Mark was an avid outdoorsman as soon as he was able. Hunting, fishing, and snowboarding were some of his favorites. In 1997, Mark graduated from Riverside High School in Basin, Wyoming. He served in the Wyoming Army National Guard (1996 – 2000), took a few classes at Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming and worked at laying concrete. His pride in his concrete work was the downtown area in Thermopolis, Woming.
He had many great experiences, including naming his little brother, working at a wilderness camp for wayward youth in the boundary waters of Minnesota (lots of good fishing and canoeing), shooting the tail off a deer, sailing the Alaska inland passage with his Grandpa Keith, shooting an elk and two big mule deer bucks, feeding his family with many of his hunting season gatherings, and helping rebuild and lay concrete at the Powell bowling alley.
Mark was a huge Chicago Bears fan, especially after the team won the Super Bowl in 1985. He enjoyed collecting Bears’ memorabilia. He was a fan of the music of the late ‘90s, such as “Nirvana”, and remembered the words to the songs even after his accident in 2000. After coming out of the coma from the accident, he lived in group homes in Riverton, Sheridan, Evanston, and Powell, where he built many strong friendships.
He loved attending church and singing the old hymns and praise songs.
Mark is survived by his parents of Basin, Wyoming; sister, Jana Bain (Bobby) of Covina, California; brother, Kyle Tate of Seattle, Washington; two nephews, a niece, a great niece and a great nephew, as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his beloved maternal grandparents, Keith and Pauline Fowler and his paternal grandparents, Russell and Jeanette Tate. Cremation has taken place.
Services will be Jan, 7, 2023 in Lovell, Wyoming at 1:30 p.m. at the Lovell Bible Church, and Jan. 14, 2023 in Greybull, Wyoming at 1:30 p.m. at the Greybull Alliance Church.
