Mary Jean Grosinger

Mary Jean (Meagher) Grosinger born near Park River, ND Jan. 10, 1929 passed calmly and beautifully May 20, 2010 in her daughter’s home surrounded by family. She endured a brave struggle with cancer.

Raised by Arthur and Vivian Meagher in Park River through a very successful High School career, she moved on to the College of Saint Catherine in St. Paul Minnesota. Graduating with a teaching degree in Home Economics, she took her first teaching job in Baudette, MN. Having worked a couple summers as a waitress at the Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone she had become very interested in the Wyoming way of life. From Baudette she began teaching in Lovell, WY.

Working as a Home Ec. Teacher in Lovell is where she met her future husband Mark Grosinger, a decorated WWII pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corp. They were married Sept. 1, 1955 in Park River and moved to Powell, WY where they started their family.

In Powell they raised two sons and two daughters, all of whom graduated from Powell Sr. High School and attended Northwest College in Powell. Both sons went on to graduate from the University of Wyoming, while the daughters went on to Colorado. One daughter graduated from CSU in Fort Collins and the other CU in Boulder. Their success has been a legacy of Mary Jean’s devotion to her faith and family.

Mary Jean’s life was highlighted by raising her family, her cherished friendships, playing bridge, gardening, travel, garage sale adventures, sisterhood in the P.E.O., being a grandmother and great grandmother and devotion to her faith at St Barbara’s Catholic Church in Powell.

Mary Jean is survived by her four children (Matthew, Mary Coats, Larry, and Julie Burgener) five grandchildren (Gwen Bustos, Leah Gann, Jesse Grosinger, Veronica and Olivia Burgener), two great-grandchildren (Lily and Anna Bella Bustos) and brother (Dr. Tom Marr).
