Nancy Lee Harvey

Nancy Lee Harvey passed away at her Powell home on Sunday, April 29, 2012.  She was born on August 22, 1935 in Greybull, WY, the fourth of five children to Edward Everett and Inez Margaret (Alderdice) Talbott.

Nan grew up in Elk Basin and attended Powell High School. On February 2, 1952, she married George Raymond Harvey in Cody, WY. Nan and George quickly built their family, having four daughters in five years. They relocated several times to towns around Wyoming while following George’s work in the oilfields.

During her children’s younger years Nan was a homemaker and when they were older, she worked at Powell Hospital, Powell Bakery, and over 20 years as head housekeeper at the Kings Inn. She and George were co-owners of H&H Trucking. For several years, she owned Accents and Accessories. Her last work was as a prep cook at Lamplighter Inn.

Always active, Nan played women’s softball in the 1960’s. After retirement, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a volunteer at the Powell Nursing Home.  She enjoyed cooking and baking (which her family enjoyed immensely), jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and was good at Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Nan was blessed to have many close friends who loved her like family including her Tuesday “lunch bunch ladies”. She was able to make friends wherever she went.

Nan dedicated her life to being a mother and family meant everything to her. She adored her grandkids and great-grandkids. Nan worked hard, was an excellent cook, and her house was immaculate. Her work ethic and kindness earned her the nickname “Super Nan”. Never one to remain idle, slowing down due to age and illness bothered her.

Those who have loved and lost are daughters Georgia Harvey-Mason of Carrollton, TX, Jeri Harvey of Billings, MT, Teri Cozzens and Christine (David) Galindo, both of Powell, grandchildren Ryan Shanahan (Sylvia) of Seattle, WA, Matthew Shanahan (Susanne) of Billings, MT, Alison Harvey of Billings, MT, Amanda Harvey of Bremerton, WA, John Mason of Big Sandy, MT, Jessica Mason of Carrollton, TX, Molly Cozzens and David Galindo both of Powell, and her three great-grandchildren Courtney and Brayden Shanahan and Kaleigh Harvey all of Billings, MT. She is also survived by her brother Mike (Anna) Talbott of Riverton, WY, sister Peggy Talbott of Thermopolis, WY, sisters-in-law Joan Talbott, Lucy Harvey, and Edna Daugherty, all of Powell, numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family on the Cozzens side.

Those waiting to greet her are her husband of 50 years George, her parents, sister Jackie McArthur, brother William (Bill) Talbott, her son-in-law, friend and football-watching buddy Donnie Cozzens, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

Services will be held on Monday, May 7th at 10:30 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Crown Hill Cemetery. Donations may be made to the charity of choice.
