Olive Vivian Fales

Olive Vivian Fales, born on March 4th, 1932, in Big Horn, Wyoming, was sent to her eternal home on March 8th, 2025, in Billings, Montana, at the age of 93.

Vivian, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. She will be remembered for the way she lived her life and the profound impact she had on those who knew her.

Vivian found joy in crocheting, quilt tying, reading, and helping others. Her potato salad and deviled eggs were family favorites. She had a knack for making friends wherever she went. Those who knew Vivian will remember her for her compassionate and loving personality, her deep-rooted faith in Jesus, and her unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone she encountered. She had a rare gift for making others feel loved and appreciated, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path. Vivian was the embodiment of perseverance, love, and complete kindness.

Vivian was the daughter of John and Ettie Brimhall. She was born into a family with 10 children, being the 7th oldest. Vivian was preceded in death by Alwin, Harold, Ethel, John, Gerald, Zelda, Enid, and Jacob, all of whom she loved dearly. Vivian’s youngest brother, Lesley Brimhall, is the last surviving of her siblings.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Carl Heard Fales. Vivian and Carl “Heard” were married in St. George, Utah, in 1988. Heard devotedly cared for Vivian until his passing in 2009. Both Vivian and Heard’s final resting spot will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell.

Vivian is survived by her brother Lesley Brimhall; her six children: David Underwood, Jesse Underwood, Bill Underwood, Janice Tietz, Helen Ray, and John Underwood; and her three stepchildren: Linda, Steven, and David Fales. Vivian was the cherished grandmother and great-grandmother to a host of grandchildren, who all adored and loved her dearly.

Vivian found solace and community with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she remained a dedicated member until her last days. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 15th, 2025, at 2 PM MT, with visitation/viewing on Friday, March 14th, 2025. Vivian’s four sons will serve as pallbearers.

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near: still loved, still missed, and very dear.”
