Robert "Bob" Donald Thomas

Robert (Bob) Donald Thomas, aged 92, peacefully passed away on June 11, 2024, at New Horizons Care Center in Lovell, WY. Born on February 13, 1932, in Oroville, CA, to Robert Donald Sr. and Elenor Thomas, Bob led a life full of love, adventure, and dedication.

Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. On May 30, 1958, he married Ann Johnson in Kenbridge, VA. Although they later divorced, Bob found lasting companionship with Patricia, sharing many wonderful years filled with joy and adventure. Together, they traveled, enjoyed camping, and spent their winters relaxing in the warm Arizona sun.

From a young age, Bob discovered a knack for repairing sewing machines, a skill that blossomed into a lifelong passion and successful profession. For over 60 years, he diligently repaired and sold sewing machines, earning a reputation for his expertise and unwavering dedication. He owned and operated a sewing shop in Baker, OR, before transitioning to work for Cascade Natural Gas Company in Walla Walla, WA.

An avid outdoorsman, Bob's love for hunting and fishing was nurtured by his father from an early age. In 1970, his passion for the great outdoors led him to relocate his family to Wyoming. There, he purchased a small grocery store and gas station in Frannie, WY. His entrepreneurial spirit flourished as he later moved to Cody, WY, where he ventured into various businesses, including a video store, 1-hour photo shop, laundromat, campground, and ultimately founding the Mini Paper, which evolved into the Buyer’s Guide.

Bob was a man of boundless curiosity and fearless spirit, always eager to embrace new opportunities. He found immense joy in camping, fishing, traveling, and most of all, spending cherished moments with his beloved family. His kind heart, infectious humor, and warm smile left an indelible mark on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife Pat, daughter Janet (Joe) Koritnik, stepson Patrick (Angie) Shannon, and grandchildren: Matt (Kelsi) Koritnik, Karen (Chris) Wagner, Forrest Shannon, and four great-grandchildren: Benson Koritnik, Hayes Koritnik, Hadley Wagner, and Maddox Wagner. He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter Kathleen Shannon.

A private family gathering will be held this summer to honor and celebrate Bob's remarkable life. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at New Horizons Care Center for their compassionate care in his final years.
