RODNEY J. WIRTH

November 15, 2023

Graveside funeral services for Rodney Wirth, 81 year old Buffalo resident who passed away suddenly Wednesday, at his home in Buffalo, will be held Friday November 24th at 11:00 a.m. in the Byron Wyoming Cemetery with Bishop Ed Riding officiating. Donations in Rodney’s memory may be made to the Bread of Life Food Pantry at 178 S. Main St. in Buffalo, Wyoming.  Online condolences may be made at www.thompsonfuneral.net.

Rodney James Wirth was born on February 9, 1942 in Lovell, Wyoming to James and Margaret Wirth.  He grew up and went to school in Byron, Wyoming and graduated from Byron High School with the class of 1960. Rod never missed a high school reunion or alumni meeting. After high school he attended Northwest Community College in Powell, Wyoming for one year.  After college Rod went to work in the oil fields.  He was married on February 24, 1962 in Provo, Utah to DeAnna Lewis and they made their home in Cody, Wyoming. In 1969 he then attended an electronics trade school in Salt Lake City and was certified as an electronics tech. They made their home in various towns in Wyoming following oil field employment.  In 1981 they settled in Buffalo where Rod retired on his birthday in 2012.  Rod and DeAnna continued to call Buffalo their home until his death.

Rod was a member of the Moose and Elks Lodge, and the LDS Church.  He was an amazing pilot and loved to fly.  He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time in the mountains.  His passion was spending time with his family.  His family was the most important thing on the planet to him. Rod was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back even if it was 30 below zero.

He is survived by his wife DeAnna Wirth of Buffalo; two daughters, Lisa Roberts and her husband Jim of Buffalo and Deborah Tippetts and her husband Casey also of Buffalo; one sister Sandra Watts and her husband Ralph of Adel, Iowa; three grandchildren Roman, Ian and Alexys and two great-grandchildren, Moriah and Dante.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Steve.
