Ruby Brimhall Reno, 85, died Aug. 18 in Rexburg, Idaho, where she had lived for the past eight months.
Ruby was born in Kane on Feb. 23, 1926, to Hazen Burns Brimhall and Mary Eliza Bassett Brimhall. She started school at age 5. She participated in the Cowley pep squad and band and was selected class president and salutatorian. After graduation she attended National Youth Administration clerical training, beginning her career with a variety of clerical jobs. She worked at the prisoner of war camp, North American Aircraft, the Naval Disbursing Office, the Lovell hospital, a CPA office, the Bureau of Reclamation, the Fish and Game office, a uranium office, a bank and at a vocational rehabilitation firm.
Ruby sold Magic Mill mixers, dehydrators, wheat grinders and Brite Music. She was a 4-H leader, president of the Powell Nursing Home Auxiliary, a certified election official and coordinator of the American Institute for Foreign Study. She was also a Wyoming State Senior Companion.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Ruby held many church positions. She was a missionary in the Cochabamba Bolivia Temple in South America.
Ruby married Earl Walter Reno in Billings. Mr. Reno died Sept. 29, 1997. She is survived by their children, Dennis Earl (Glea) Reno of Billings, Dianne Renee (Brent) Williams of Spokane, Wash., Terri Jean (Jeff) Griggs of Sugar City, Idaho, and Todd Jay (Claire) Reno of Cody; a brother, Harlow (Peggy) Brimhall of Lovell; 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Ruby loved to cook and entertain. She sewed, canned and was a diligent family historian, working by computer. She was very competitive and enjoyed playing games. Ruby loved traveling and won many trips to several countries through her work with the foreign exchanged student program. She enjoyed her home at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rexburg, Idaho, for the last eight months of her life.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Avenue E in Powell. Viewing will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in the Lovell Cemetery.
