Ben Holbert of Powell died of natural causes on Saturday, March 17, at Powell Valley Healthcare. He was 95 years old.
He was born Feb. 7, 1917, in Neilsville, Wis., to John and Stella (Heller) Holbert.
He married Willie Mae Harper in Hardin, Mont., and they spent their honeymoon at the first annual Sturgis, S.D., motorcycle rally 72 years ago in July.
Ben served in the Navy from 1944-45, then spent most of his career working as a mechanic and diesel mechanic in Sheridan, Gillette, Jackson Hole and Riverton.
Ben and Willie had three children, Michãel (Hugh) Baker, Cheri (David) Engdahl and Noel Holbert.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters; four granddaughters, Tauna Eberhard, Trina Chick, Kim Stark and Kellie Burns; two grandsons, Kerry Holbert and Bret Engdahl; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Noel; brothers Chuck (Leona) Holbert, Claude (Ruth) Holbert and Jack Holbert; and sisters Elta (John) Morland and Glady (Lynn) Palmer; and great-grandson Damien.
Memorial services will be held at Thompson Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Monday, April 2.
